The Unfolding of the Masterpiece - Genesis 42-45

On April 6, Patrick brings a message called, the Unfolding of the Masterpiece, from Genesis 42-45. 
When it rains, it pours. It never feels like just one challenge pops up in our path, but a multitude, and as that chaos builds up, we all eventually get to our breaking point. In those times, however, when all hope or reason seems lost, is most often when God reveals His presence and His perfect purpose. 

Who Are You, O Man? - Genesis 39-41

On March 30, Patrick teaches from Genesis 39-41, with a message called, Who Are You, O Man?

Questions aren’t a bad thing to ask, nor are they forbidden by God. On the contrary, because He loves us and wants a relationship with us God invites and encourages our questions. But we’re to ask them in humility, reverence, and faith. Only through that lens will we then be able to maintain trust and hope in the hardest of circumstances. Only then will we be ready to be used by Him for the great big thing He has planned for us and His world.

The King Who is Coming - Genesis 37-38

On March 23, Patrick talks about the King Who is Coming - Genesis 37:2-38:30

Henry David Thoreau argued, “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.” We all struggle to find meaning in our day-to-day lives and often question if there is any bigger purpose. The people we read of in the Bible probably felt no differently, despite what we can now see in hindsight. The story of Jacob’s sons reminds us that God is at work in the little things to bring about His big promise.

Domesticated Jesus: Have We Tamed the Lion of Judah?

Is Jesus really the Lion  of Judah? Or do we prefer a tame Lion, perhaps de-clawed without fangs. It seems that in the western church we have domesticated this young Jewish rabbi who turned the world upside down with his teaching. Many in the church seem to invite Jesus into their already busy lives so that  Jesus can follow US, rather than we following HIM. On Sunday, let's look  at the ways we tend to TAME Jesus into something we like better than the Jesus who calls us to radical obedience and discipleship.

Into a Great Family - Genesis 34-36

While human history has been dominated by those who would seek to make a great name for themselves, the modern era has produced an obsession with fame and celebrity like none before. Nearly everyone wants to be known and famous. God, however, has something bigger and better in mind: Not to bring individual fame and glory, but adoption into a family that will last forever.

Counting Hardship as Joy - Genesis 29-33

On March 2, Patrick's message comes from Genesis 29:1-33:20

The Bible tells us that it is God’s kindness that is meant to lead us to repentance and trust, but sometimes what God does in our lives, or allows, doesn’t feel like kindness. Ultimately, though, Jacob’s frustrations help us to have faith in all circumstances showing us how much God cares for our well-being and how He will ensure He gets us there.

Faithful Amidst Dysfunction, Part 2 - Genesis 27-28

On February 23, Patrick's message is Faithful Amidst Dysfunction, Part 2. Often that which stands most in the way of God’s plans is us! Whether it be because of our own selfish ambitions, our laxity, or taking matters into our own hands, rather than cooperating in submission and faith we end up trying to build our own kingdoms. But God’s grace and power is greater than our sin. If there is one thing the story of Jacob teaches us, it’s that we cannot mess up or slow down God’s mission!

Faithful Amidst Dysfunction, Part 1 - Genesis 25-26

On February 16, Patrick continues his series in Genesis: Obstacles and setbacks not only frustrate us in our  progress toward a goal, but they can make us doubt the cause  altogether. Maybe we misread the situation or shouldn’t have started  down this path. We may even start to ask, “Has God left us, or have we  left Him?”. The start of Jacob’s journey away from home shows us,  however, that when our hearts and minds are focused on His words and  promises we can have certainty that despite all appearances He is with  us and working all things out according to His perfect plan.

All the Peoples - Genesis 21-24

On February 9, Patrick teaches from Genesis 21-24. The human race is diverse. In appearance, in cuisine, in music, in all sorts of things we are different, not just across the planet but even in our immediate communities. Those differences, unfortunately, have often led to division and hurt, but God’s purpose is to bring all people together. The Gospel, we see, isn’t detached from questions of ethnicity or gender or culture but encompasses them all.

The Promise, Part 2 - Genesis 15-20

On February 2, Patrick continues his series in Genesis, this week being in Genesis 15-20.

HERE'S THE DEAL: The power of a promise relies on three things: (1) Is the promise-maker trustworthy, and (2) Is the promise-maker able to come through, and (3) Is the promise itself good. In the book of Genesis, as the world begins to take shape and people do as they please across the globe, God makes a promise about how all things will turn out. We just have to decide if the promise meets these three criteria.
